SUBJECT:  Final Reading of Ordinance 2003-O-074

 

Amending the City of Laredo’s 2002-2003 annual budget by authorizing the addition of two (2) Investigator positions by reclassification of two (2) patrolman positions at the Laredo Police Department and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget.  The approximate additional cost to the General Fund is $7,236 to pay for the salaries and fringe benefits for two (2) additional Investigator positions from March 25, 2003 through September 30, 2003.

ACTION PROPOSED:

 

This ordinance be passed and approved.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

   The City Council acknowledged the need for additional Investigator positions within the Laredo Police Department.

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

FINANCIAL:                   

 

 

The approximate cost to the General Fund is $7,236 for the reclassification of two patrolman positions, but the cost will be covered through the Laredo Police Department budget in account number 101-2310-522-1325.

ORDINANCE 2003-O-074

 

 

Amending the City of Laredo’s 2002-2003 annual budget by authorizing the addition of two (2) Investigator positions by reclassification of two (2) patrolman positions at the Laredo Police Department and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget.  The approximate additional cost to the General Fund is $7,236 to pay for the salaries and fringe benefits for two (2) additional Investigator positions from March 25, 2003 through September 30, 2003.

                   

 

Whereas,  the City of Laredo previously adopted the budget for fiscal year 2002-2003; and 

 

            Whereas,  there is a current promotional eligibility list for the position of Investigator; and  

 

Whereas,  the reclassification is recommended by City Council and the Chief of Police; and

 

Whereas,  the approximate additional cost will be $7,236 for two positions and will be covered through account number 101-2310-522-1325.

 

                                                           

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

Section 1: The City of Laredo’s 2002-2003 annual budget is hereby amended by authorizing the addition of two (2) Investigator positions by reclassification of two (2) patrolman positions at the Laredo Police Department and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget.  The approximate additional cost to the General Fund is $7,222 to pay for the salaries and fringe benefits of two (2) additional Investigator positions from March 25, 2003 through September 30, 2003.
