HISTORY

Since 1985 the City of Laredo Health Department has been providing comprehensive HIV/AIDS /STD health education, awareness, screening, testing and outreach prevention services as well as medical health care and needed support services in Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Starr and Duval Counties. As a recognized and model HIV/AIDS health care and prevention program we have set a high standard in providing a wide array of comprehensive HIV care services to those affected and infected with HIVAIDS by highly trained staff. In addition, our program has also experienced success providing evidence based interventions by skilled staff that have yielded positive outcomes in getting high risk populations to change risky behaviors. Our mission is to assure prevention and awareness of HIV/AIDS/STD with sensitivity yet excellent professional services. To assure quality services the program continues working closely with public health professionals, state, federal and local partners to include community stakeholders to implement, plan and evaluate all of its current and proposed services with the full acceptance and support of its constituency.

The HIV/AIDS staff is highly professional, culturally competent, sensitive, and experienced and ready to assist you with all public health and prevention services. We promise to be client centered, provide quality service and work with you with dignity and respect.
