In keeping with the spirit of our Trash Tip of the Week campaign, I offer you the next trash tip.
Thanks for all your help!

Public Service Announcement Campaign:  “Let’s Talk Trash!”
For week of June 28, 2004

Trash Tip of the Week:
The following items are accepted in our recycling blue bags: newspapers, magazines, white paper, cardboard, plastics #1 and #2, steel and tin, and aluminum. Rinse out all containers before recycling because liquid in the containers or food on the items will contaminate the entire batch and require the contents to be taken to the landfill, instead of being recycled.

Plastic #1: This type of plastic has on the bottom of the bottle a triangle made of three arrows with the number 1 in the middle.  These bottles include: soda bottles, sport drink bottles, and juice bottles.

Plastic #2: This type of plastic has on the bottom of the bottle a triangle made of three arrows with a number 2 in the middle.  These bottles include: milk bottles and soap bottles.

It is recommended that you remove all bottle caps and throw in the trash.  Also you should rinse out the milk bottles with a small amount of water and crush
the bottles.
