Public Service Announcement Campaign:  “Let’s Talk Trash!”
For week of September 27, 2004

Trash Tip of the Week:
Clean branches and clippings with no trash can be disposed of in a “branches only” designated area only at the City of Laredo Landfill, located
by Hwy 359.  Ask at the scale house where this area is situated. Here, branches are ground up and become mulch, used to nurture plants and trees by scattering it in their roots.
Why Mulch?  This effort helps reduce the quantity of garbage that enters the landfill, and also helps Mother Nature.  Also, mulch is used later used in the City’s trail building projects and other recreational areas.  The mulch is offered free to the public and can be picked up at Fire Station #8, at 512 Del Mar or behind the Laredo Public Library at McPherson and Calton.

Aviso semanal sobre la basura:
Ramas y árboles pequeños, limpios y sin basura, pueden ser vaciadas en un lugar asignado solo para ramas en el relleno sanitario localizado por Hwy 359.  Solo pregunte al llegar al edificio donde se pesa su desechos, que le diga donde vacía solo las ramas.  El propósito de esto es que estas ramas son trituradas, y se convierte en mulch, que se usa para nutrir plantas y árboles y solo se esparce debajo de árboles para alimentar sus raíces.  
Para que triturar las ramas?  Este esfuerzo ayuda a disminuir la cantidad de desechos que se tiran en el relleno sanitario y ayuda a la madre naturaleza.  También, este tipo de abono después es utilizado para proyectos de la cuidad y en áreas recreativas. Este tipo de abono es disponible para el publico, sin costo alguno y puede ir por el al estación de Bomberos #8 en el 512 Del Mar o detrás de la Biblioteca Publica por la calle McPherson y Calton.
