Council accepted a donation and approved budget amendment on April 16, 2001 for $70,000 by 2001-O-074.

Council accepted a donation and approved budget amendment on April 20, 1998 for $90,000 by 98-O-105.

Council accepted a donation and approved budget amendment on May 19, 1997 for $125,000 by 97-O-112.

 

 

  BACKGROUND: 

 

The Friends of the Library conduct fundraising events and solicit the corporate / business community to augment the Library’s various projects.  Funds will be used to provide enhancements to technology for public use, books and programming.  

 

 

 

 

  FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Fund Balance will be partially appropriated in the Friends of the Library Fund # 661 as follows:

Amendment of the budget to appropriate $80,000 in the Friends of the Library Fund.

INTRODUCTORY ORDINANCE

 

AMENDING THE CITY OF LAREDO FY 2001-2002 ANNUAL BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE $80,000 IN THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY FUND.

 

WHEREAS, $80,000 in the Friends of the Library Fund have not been appropriated, and;

 

WHEREAS, these funds will be used to provide enhancements in technology for the public use, books and programming, and;

 

WHEREAS, the City of Laredo agrees to disburse these funds in accordance with the Friends wishes, namely that the donation not be used to offset general operational funds,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

1.      The City of Laredo’s 2001-2002 Annual Budget is hereby amended to appropriate $80,000 in the Friends of the Library Fund.

2.      These funds will be used to provide enhancements in technology for the public use, books and programming.

3.      The City Manager is authorized to implement said budget.

4.      This ordinance shall become effective upon passage hereof.
