BACKGROUND: The Laredo Police Department leases a
building from the Laredo International Airport (Building 62) located at the
4800 block of Maher Avenue. The
building has been vacant for quite some time, and the central A/C unit had
not been serviced or maintained. LPD
recently requested assistance from Public Work (PW) who sent A/C technicians
to service and/or to make any necessary to the unit. The A/C Technicians have determined that
the 25-ton A/C unit needs to be replaced.
The approximate cost for the A/C unit is $8,500. In addition, LPD requested that PW
remove the worn-out carpets replace them with vinyl or ceramic tile. Minor renovations and modifications were
requested on existing walls, some possible wall additions, patching-up the
roof, securing the warehouse for seized property, and securing employee
entrances. The approximate cost for
these modifications is $16,462. Furthermore, there will be a need to install a phone
system, landscape, and to furnish the entire building. The bid purchase for this item will be
processed after the renovations have been completed. |
