PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: This item was introduced and approved on May 8, 2002 City Council meeting.
BACKGROUND: On January 13, 2002, a fire broke out at Unit 569-A Maple Court at the Jose A. Flores Apartments. A claim was filed with the Texas Municipal League. TML approved the claim in the amount of $57,247.64. However, a deductible of $10,000 was applied, and $11,020.76 was retained for depreciation costs, leaving a net claim in the amount of $36,226.88. However, if the reconstruction amount exceeds the $36,226.88, the Laredo Municipal Housing Corporation can request reimbursement up to $11,020.76 from the depreciation costs.

	COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:				STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that the City Manager be authorized to appropriate said revenues and allocate same to a reconstruction expenditure account.

ORDINANCE NO. 2002-O-096

Amending the LAredo MUNICIPAL HOUSING CORPORATION’s FY 2001-02 annual budget BY APPROPRIating revenues and expenses of $36,227 from A TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE CLAIM REIMBURSEMENT for the RECONSTRUCTION OF UNIT 569-A MAPLE COURT, AND Authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget.

WHEREAS, on January 13, 2002, a fire broke out in unit 569-A Maple Court, at the Jose A. Flores Apartments, and,

WHEREAS, on March 28, 2002, Texas Municipal League approved a fire claim in the amount of $57,247.64, and,

WHEREAS, on April 6, 2002, the City of Laredo Risk Management Department deposited a TML Claim Check in the amount of $36,226.88 in the Laredo Municipal Housing Corporation Reimbursement-Insurance Revenue line item, and,

WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing and introduction of this ordinance on May 6, 2002, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

Section 1. Budget Amendment

The Laredo Municipal Housing Corporation FY 2001-2002 annual budget be amended to appropriate additional revenues and expenditures in the amount of $36,227 from the Texas Municipal League Fire Claim.
