Authorizing City Manager to execute a lease with the Boys and Girls Club of Laredo, Inc. at the unimproved real property located at the San Isidro Devine Mercy Church Subdivision, Laredo, Webb County, Texas and being more fully described in exhibit “A” of the lease agreement for the construction and operation of a Boys and Girls Club facility. The term of the lease is forty (40) years commencing upon the approval of the agreement by City Council. The annual base rent shall be one ($1.00) dollar for the term of the lease. ( as amended )

  BACKGROUND:

 

The City of Laredo owns this unimproved real property, located at the San Isidro Devine Mercy Church Subdivision, containing approximately 5.06 acres of land and has determined that it is advantageous to itself, its citizenry and the community at large to lease the demised real property to the Boys and Girls Club of Laredo.

 

The primary purpose of this agreement is to institute a boys and girls club facility for the youth of Laredo.

 

  FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 Lessee shall incur a $1.00 per annum fee.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this forty (40) year agreement with Boys and Girls Club of Laredo.

 

ORDINANCE 2002-O-103

 

 

                AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE WITH THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LAREDO, INC. AT THE UNIMPROVED REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE SAN ISIDRO DEVINE MERCY   CHURCH SUBDIVISION, LAREDO,WEBB COUNTY , TEXAS AND    BEING MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT “A” OF LEASE AGREEMENT FOR THE CONTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF A BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB FACILITY.

 

                                1. TERM OF THE LEASE IS FORTY (40) YEARS COMMEMCING UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT BY CITY COUNCIL. 

 

                                2. THE ANNUAL BASE RENT SHALL BE ONE ($1.00) DOLLAR FOR THE TERM OF THE LEASE.

 

                WHEREAS, the landlord currently owns the unimproved real property described as per survey property depicted in exhibit “A”, and

 

                WHEREAS, the landlord has determined that it is advantageous to itself, its citizenry, and the community at large to lease the demised real property to the Tenant, together with the right, privileges and uses described  in said Lease Contract.

 

                WHEREAS, the property will be developed into a Boys and Girls facility and provides authorized uses as stipulated in the agreement.

 

                NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

                Section 1.              The City Manager be and is hereby authorized to execute a lease with the Boys and Girls Club of Laredo, Inc. at the unimproved real property located at the San Isidro Devine Mercy Church Subdivision, Laredo, Webb County, Texas and being more fully described in exhibit “A” of the lease agreement for the construction and operation of a Boys and Girls Club facility.

 

 

                Section 2.              This ordinance shall become effective upon the passage hereof.
