  SUBJECT:  FINAL READING  ORDINANCE 2002-O-120

 

Ordinance accepting a grant by the Texas Book Festival in the amount of $2,500 and amending the City of Laredo FY 2001-2002 Annual Budget in the amount of $2,500, providing for effective date.

  BACKGROUND: 

The Texas Book Festival is an annual gift event promoting the enhancement of valuable assets and services provided through Texas Public Libraries.  This year’s total awards exceeded $ 200,000 to 81 libraries through out the State.

 

 

  FINANCIAL:

  Increase Library Books line item #101-3140-552-2302 for Reference Books for the Santo Niño Branch Library.

 

  RECOMMENDATION:

 

STAFF:

The Library Advisory Committee recommends approval of the amendment to the budget.

     Recommend approval of the ordinance.

 

ORDINANCE  2002-O-120

 

 

ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT BY THE TEXAS BOOK FESTIVAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500 AND AMENDING THE CITY OF LAREDO FY 2001-2002 ANNUAL BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Laredo seeks all opportunities to augment the information resources provided through the Laredo Public Library, and;

 

WHEREAS, these grant funds will be used to purchase new reference books for the Santo Niño Branch Library, and;

 

WHEREAS, the City Manager is authorized to execute all related documents;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

1.      The City of Laredo accepts a grant by the Texas Book Festival in the amount of $2,500.

2.      The City of Laredo FY 2001-2002 Budget is amended in the amount of $2,500.

3.      These funds will be used to purchase new reference books for the Santo Niño Branch Library.

4.      The City Manager is hereby directed to execute any and all documents as required for the transfer of these funds.
