BACKGROUND: The City of Laredo Health Department has a laboratory that performs bacteriological tests on water samples. The laboratory is certified and approved by the Texas Department of Health to analyze water samples to determine their compliance with maximum allowable levels. The Health Director recommends that the fee of $8.00 be increased to $15.00 for this service. He further recommends that this fee be waived for the Health Department |

additional revenues if this ordinance is approved. |

ORDINANCE NO. 2002-O-152
AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 90-O-177 BY INCREASING THE FEE TO $8.00 $15.00 PER SAMPLE
FOR THE BACTERIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF WATER AT THE CITY OF LAREDO HEALTH
DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR A WAIVER OF THE FEE TO THE HEALTH AND WATER
UTILITIES DEPARTMENTS OF THE
CITY OF LAREDO, THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, AND ANY OTHER AGENCY,
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Laredo Health Department has a laboratory that performs bacteriological tests on water samples; and
WHEREAS, the laboratory is certified and approved by the Texas Department of Health to analyze water samples to determine their compliance with maximum allowable levels; and
WHEREAS, the Health Director recommends that the fee of $8.00 be increased to $15.00 for this service; and
WHEREAS, he further recommends that this fee be
waived for the Health and Water Utilities Departments of the City
of Laredo, the Texas Department of Health, and any other state agency.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:
Section 1: There
is hereby establishes a fee of $8.00 The fee of $8.00 per sample of
water for bacteriological testing services performed by the Health Department
of the City of Laredo is hereby increased to $15.00.
Section 2: Nothing in this ordinance is intended to exempt, change or modify the terms of any governing federal or state regulations which apply to the provision of bacteriological water testing by the laboratory of the City of Laredo Health Department.
Section 3: After passage of this ordinance, it shall be published as specified in Section 2,09(D) of the Charter.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect after publication as specified in Section 3.
