SUBJECT:  FINAL READING OF ORDINANCE 2002-O-161

 

Authorizing the City Manager to execute a lease renewal with United Exports Trading Association (U.E.T.A.) of Texas, Inc., for approximately 2,526 square feet out of Lot 10, Block 22, in the Western Division, City of Laredo, Webb County, Texas, lying northeast of the concrete pavement connecting Salinas Street with Water Street:

1.      Lease term is for one (1) year commencing on August 13, 2002 and ending on August 12, 2003.

2.      Monthly rent will be $1,000.00.

3.       City of Laredo may terminate this lease within ninety (90) days written notice.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:  

 

Council has in the past approved leasing these properties to U.E.T.A. of Texas, Inc.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The City of Laredo has in the past leased these properties to U.E.T.A. of Texas, Inc. and has never had any problems with the customer.  U.E.T.A. of Texas, Inc. has once again advised of their interest to continue leasing the property at the new rental amount of $1,000.00 per month.

 

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

The City of Laredo will receive $12,000.00 a year.  The account # is 553-0000-361-1055.

ORDINANCE 2002-O-161

 

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE RENEWAL WITH UNITED EXPORTS TRADING ASSOCIATION (U.E.T.A.) OF TEXAS, INC. FOR APPROXIMATELY 2,526 SQUARE FEET OF LOT 10, BLOCK 22, IN THE WESTERN DIVISION, CITY OF LAREDO, WEBB COUNTY TEXAS LYING NORTHEAST OF THE CONCRETE PAVEMENT CONNECTING SALINAS STREET WITH WATER STREET.

 

1.     Lease term is for one (1) year commencing on August 13, 2002 and ending on August 12, 2003.

 

2.     Monthly rent will be $1,000.00.

 

3.     City of Laredo may terminate this lease within ninety (90) days written notice.

 

WHEREAS, the Director of the Laredo Bridge System recommends that the City Council approve the proposed lease, attached hereto as Exhibit “A,” in furtherance of the development of the City owned property being part of the Laredo Bridge System; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of the Laredo Bridge System finds that U.E.TA. of Texas, Inc., has been a good tenant under a previous lease for the same property; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed lease, copy of which is attached hereto Exhibit “A,” would be in the City’s interest and benefit.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

Section 1:  Authorizing the City Manager to execute a lease with U.E.T.A. of Texas, Inc. approximately 2,526 square feet and located north of the concrete pavement connecting Salinas Street with Water Street for a term of one (1) year at $1000.00/month, commencing August 13, 2002 and ending August 12, 2003, a copy of said lease is attached hereto as Exhibit “A,” and incorporated herein.

 

Section 2:  This lease shall become effective upon passage thereof.
