was introduced by the City Council. |

Background: The grant will be used to purchase promotional
materials for the City’s Household Hazardous Collection Program. By
distributing the promotional materials to the citizens of Laredo, the City
plans to increase awareness of the importance of proper disposal of the
household hazardous waste and to reduce water pollution. |

AN ORDINANCE NO 2002-O-305
Accepting a grant awarded by the South Texas Development
Council for the amount of $18,000.00 and
amending the City of Laredo’s FY 2002-2003 Annual Budget for the NPDES Fund by
appropriating the said grant revenue to the appropriate expenditure
accounts. The grant monies will be used
for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program.
Whereas, the South Texas Development
Council (STDC) has issued a request for proposes for funding of local projects;
and
Whereas, the City of Laredo’s
Environmental Services Department applied the grant to purchase promotional
items for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program; and
Whereas, the South Texas Development
Council approves the grant, without requiring any local match; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:
Section 1. The grant be accepted from the South Texas Development Council
the amount of $18,000.00 and that the City of Laredo’s FY 2002-2003 Annual Budget for the NPDES
Fund, be amended by appropriating the
said grant revenue to the appropriate expenditure accounts.
Section 2. The City of Laredo will
comply with the provisions of the financial assistance program and the fiscal
reimbursement and reporting requirements of the South Texas Development Council.
Section
3. The
City of Laredo hereby agrees that the funds received from the South Texas Development Council
will
only be used for the purpose of implementing a used oil collection
program.
