SUBJECT:   FINAL READING OF ORDINANCE 2003-O-021

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE CITY OF LAREDO’S FY 2002/2003 ANNUAL BUDGET IN THE CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU OPERATING FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,521.00 FOR REVENUE AND EXPENSES FROM THE MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF THE WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION MUSEUM, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT SAID BUDGET.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:

On August 19, 2002, Council approved a contract with Washington’s Birthday Celebration Museum of Laredo, Texas, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Museum located at 900 Zaragoza Street.

 

BACKGROUND:              

 

Washington’s Birthday Celebration Museum opened on February 14, 2001, as the primary venue to exhibit costumes, photographs and other paraphernalia commemorating the celebration. Since October 2002, the Laredo Convention & Visitors Bureau has been operating the Museum which also functions as an information center for the City of Laredo.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

 

Section 1:            The City Manager is authorized to amend the City of Laredo’s FY 2002/2003 Annual Budget in the Convention & Visitors Bureau Operating Fund in the amount of $42,521.00 for revenue and expenses form the management and operation of the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Museum, and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget.
