SUBJECT: FINAL READING OF ORDINANCE 2003-O-031

Amending the City of Laredo Fiscal Year 2002-2003 annual budget by appropriating $211,305 from the Bridge System Construction fund balance into the Bridge Improvements Account and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget amendment. Funding will be used for Bridge Improvements: Static Scale project for Bridge IV in the amount of $150,000 and the pneumatic coin system for Bridge II in the amount of $61,305.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:

At the September 16, 2002 Council meeting, Council approved the City of Laredo’s Fiscal Year 2002-2003 annual budget.

BACKGROUND:

These funds are available from unexpended balances from FY 2001-2002 Bridge System Construction Fund accounts.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Funding for Bridge Improvements once the transfer is done from the Construction Fund Balance will be available in the Bridge Improvements Account #553-4050 538-5328.

ORDINANCE 2003-O-031

AMENDING THE CITY OF LAREDO FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003 ANNUAL BUDGET BY APPROPRIATING $211,305 FROM THE BRIDGE SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION FUND BALANCE INTO THE BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS ACCOUNT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT SAID BUDGET AMENDMENT. FUNDING WILL BE USED FOR BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS: Static Scale project for Bridge IV in the amount of $150,000 and the pneumatic coin system for Bridge II in the amount of $61,305.

WHEREAS, a public hearing and introductory ordinance was held on January 27, 2003.

WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the best interests of the City of Laredo, Texas to appropriate these funds of $211,305 and that the funds be allocated in the City of Laredo Bridge Improvements Account.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:

Section 1. The Fiscal Year 2002-2003 annual budget is hereby amended to transfer and appropriate $211,305 from the Bridge System Construction Fund Balance to the Bridge Improvement Account # 553-4050-538-5328.

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute a budget amendment to appropriate all funds associated with the Bridge Improvements.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall be, and hereby are, repealed.
