    I.  Call to order 

        With a quorum present Mayor Elizabeth G. Flores called the meeting to order.

   II.  Pledge of Allegiance

        Mayor Elizabeth G. Flores led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

    V.  Communications and Recognitions

        a.  Recognition

        1.  Presentation by Council Member Cecilia May Moreno and Mayor Pro Tempore 
            Consuelo "Chelo" Montalvo on the recognition and appreciation of Committee   
            Members who served under their terms.

            Cm. Moreno and Mayor Pro Tempore presented certificates of recognition and   
            appreciation to Committee Members who served under their terms.
     
   XI.  Resolutions

        1.  2000-R-073  A resolution canvassing the returns of the General City 
            Election held on May 6, 2000; approving the results; and ordering a 
            special run-off election if necessary.

            Mayor Flores publicly read the election results.

District IV

Johnny Amaya                428         56.24%
Saturnino "Nino" Ramos      333         43.75%

She announced the winner to be Johnny Amaya.

Mayor Flores announced that the winner for District V was Eliseo Valdez who ran 
unopposed. 

District VII

Mario G.  Alvarado          506         43.92%
Javier "Rito" De Anda       180         15.62%
Jose Alberto Valdez, Jr.    466         40.45%

The Mayor stated that there would be a run-off between Mario G. Alvarado and 
Jose Alberto Valdez, Jr.

District VIII

Felipe Cardenas                 198         23.23%
Juan Ramirez                    223         26.17%
Roberto "Magic" Reyna            89         10.44%
Jose Gamez                      108         12.67%
Canuta "Tita" Quintanilla       222         26.05%
Ramon Estrada, Jr. (write-in)     9          1.06%

The Mayor stated that there would be a run-off between Juan Ramirez and 
Canuta "Tita" Quintanilla.

     Motion to approve Resolution # 2000-R-073 with a provision to have staff 
     investigate the legalities of changing the time and the dates in order to 
     better meet the needs of the public.
