 I.         CALL TO ORDER

 

            With a quorum present, Mayor Elizabeth G. Flores called the meeting to order.

 

II.        PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

            Mayor Flores led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

III.       RESOLUTIONS

 

1.   2004-R-047     Canvassing the returns of the General Election held on May 15, 2004;

                               approving the results; calling for a runoff election for District IV on

                               June 19, 2004; and authorizing the City Manager to enter into contract

                               with the Webb County Election Administrator for the purpose of

                               conducting a runoff election. 

 

                               The City Attorney publicly read the election results of the May 15, 2004

                               General Election as follows:

The Mayor announced that Canuta “Tita” Quintanilla asked for a recount in District VIII

against Juan Ramirez.  The recount will take  place at the Webb County Administrative

Bldg today, May 24, 2004.   She also announced that there will be a runoff election to be

held June 19, 2004 for District IV against Johnny Amaya and Sabas Zapata.   

 

Motion to canvass the May 15, 2004 General Election results by accepting the results as

presented by the City Secretary and approving Resolution 2004-R-047.

IV.       EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

            The City Council hereby reserves the right to go into executive session at any time during this public meeting, if such is requested by the City Attorney or other legal counsel for the City, pursuant to his or her duty under Section 551.071(2) of the Government Code, to consult privately with his or her client on an item on the agenda, or on a matter arising out of such item.
