Sub-watershed Description: The program affects all watersheds that share a
portion of their area with the City of Laredo limits. These include the Chacon
Creek, Zacate Creek, Sombrerito Creek and Manadas Creek watersheds. However,
out of the eleven collection centers, the majority of centers lie in the Zacate
Creek watershed which currently includes nine. One is located in the Chacon
Creek watershed and one in the Manadas Creek watershed.

Abstract: Since falling under the mandates of the Clean Water Act NPDES storm
water permit conditions, the City has maintained the grant provided through
TNRCC to collect oil from the many 'do it yourselfers' of Laredo and
surrounding areas. The city currently maintains 11 collection sites located
throughout Laredo. The following is a list of the locations:
Guerra Exxon Service Station - 3410 Santa Ursula at Lafayette
Department of Public Works - 4312 Daugherty Ave.
Sanitary Landfill - Highway 359, 2.5 mi. east of Loop 20
Alfonso's Auto Repair - 3318 McDonnell
United High School - 8800 McPherson Rd.
Zacate Wastewater Treatment Plant - Springfield St. and Aldama St.
Fire Station #2 - 2200 Zacatecas St.
Fire Station #3 (Civic Center) - 2420 San Bernardo Ave.
Fire Station #5 - 2601 N. Bartlett St.
Fire Station #6 - 4903 Maher St.
Fire Station #8 - 510 Del Mar Blvd.
Progress to Date: The City not only collects oil through drive-up 550 gallon
collection bins but also purchases 7 and 12.5 quart containers to be distributed
to the public during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. 400-7
qt. and 100 -12.5 qt. have recently been purchased for the upcoming event.
