Abstract: In compliance with the provisions set forth by the National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System permit the City is developing ordinances to
regulate land disturbing activities and a guidance manual which includes Best
Management Practice s.  These ordinances include a set of policies to regulate
these activities, erosion and sedimentation issues and drainage/discharge
criteria associated with storm water.  The manual is designed to provide
specific development and/or redevelopment pr eliminary design information and
permanent storm water control mechanisms whose incorporation into a development
will ensure compliance with the ordinances.

Progress to Date: The final draft of the ordinance is working it's way through
the approval process and projections indicate the ordinance will be adopted by
the city council in January of 1998.
