Mercy Regional Medical Center exists as a visible affirmation of mankind's rights to
health and is the community's formal way of recognizing its responsibility to provide
the means for keeping mankind well and for restoring as much as possible, lost or
impaired health. The purpose of Mercy Regional Medical Center is to provide optimal
healthcare services and programs, both educational and research, which are available
with its resources in order to contribute to the physical, psychological, social,
emotional, and spiritual well-being of the people and the communities served.
Since its founding in 1894 by the Sisters of Mercy, the hospital has constantly
progressed to meet the healthcare needs of a growing community, and has provided
Laredoans with state-of-the-art technology. Today, Mercy Regional Medical Center is
licensed for 327 beds and has 125 physicians who respond to the community's needs.
Mercy Regional Medical Center (Laredo) is realizing the dream of a quality-driven, community-based health care delivery system through its plans to create a new, multi-million dollar state-of-the-art Mercy Health Center. Located on 50 acres purchased from the City of Laredo in late 1994, the health center and its respective programs will provide a central point of access to a variety of optional medical, hospital, and outpatient services to all residents of the community. Mercy Health Center and its initial related campus facilities are projected for completion by Fall 1998.

Serving Laredo and the surrounding area for 30 years, Doctors Hospital is
situated on 58 acres of land at the corner of McPherson Road and Bob Bullock
Loop. The 180 bed facility offers special advances in medicine through their
Emergency / Trauma Department, Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center, General Surgery,
Obstetrics / Women’s Services, Pediatrics, Radiology, Ambulatory Surgery
and Outpatient Services. Doctors Hospital incorporates the newest technological
equipment with an outstanding team of medical professionals.
Also, the Doctors Regional Cancer Treatment Center, located on the Doctors Hospital medical campus, has provided cancer treatment services in Laredo for 17 years. The cancer center is the only cancer center south of San Antonio that has earned accreditation status by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Unique to the cancer center are clinical trials, tumor board, cancer registry and support groups.

The Mercy Regional Medical Center has expanded its services ith the construction
of its Ambulatory Care Center North. Services include comprehensive ambulatory (one-day) surgical services, diagnostic services, outpatient physical therapy, and physician medical offices.
