City of Laredo wins Environmental Award

At Monday's City Council meeting, the City of Laredo Environmental Services Department was recognized for receiving the Community Service Award from the Code Enforcement Association of Texas. Attached, please find the photo and the application the department submitted in consideration for the award. Mayor Salinas and members of the Laredo City Council were all duly impressed and proud of the efforts of the department. Cm. Mike Garza noted that the department beat out other "green" cities in Texas, such as Austin, that are often considered models for protecting their environment. He also went on to say that this award proves that the City of Laredo is doing a lot to keep their community clean, despite what critics may say.
