Biography

     A 13th-generation Texan and avid mountain biker, George Altgelt, JD, is an attorney in the State of Texas as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In his former roles as a Felony Drug Court Prosecutor and Environmental Prosecutor for the offices of the Webb County District Attorney and Webb County Attorney, Altgelt worked to enforce the laws of the State of Texas while simultaneously ensuring that law enforcement agencies did not violate the constitutional rights of the accused.

 

     George Altgelt graduated in 1999 from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, with a bachelor of arts in political science. He then went on to receive his juris doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2004. Attorney Altgelt is fluent in Spanish and is a member of the boards of both the Big River Foundation and the River Pierce Foundation, organizations dedicated to the conservation of natural waterways.
