Ethics Commission
Composition: The Ethics Commission shall consist of nine (9) members. The Mayor and each member
of the City Council shall nominate one member of the Commission. Each nominee must
be confirmed by a majority of City Council members. Nomination and confirmation of
commission members shall be conducted at open meetings of the City Council.
Created: by Section 12.02 of the City Charter and Ordinance 2012-O-126; Code of Ordinance
Terms of Office: Initial Commission appointments shall be made so that terms are staggered, with five
members to serve an initial term of two years and four members to serve an initial
term of three years, determined after appointment by lottery. Subsequent
appointments shall be for a term of two years beginning on the day after the
expiration of the preceding full term. No member of the Commission shall serve for
more than three full terms. The tenure of the members of the Commission shall not
be concurrent with the terms of the appointing council member, so that all members
shall be allowed to serve the duration of the terms for which they were appointed.

Composition: As a recognized 501 C 3 – Public Charity through the IRS, Keep Laredo Beautiful follows its bylaws which

Mission Statement: The MPO is the designated organization responsible for identifying local transportation needs in

urban transportation to those governmental units that are responsible for program development and
project implementation.
