LAREDO, TX – The City of Laredo and the Laredo City Council extend their sincere appreciation to District 7 Council Member Vanessa Perez for her outstanding service as Mayor Pro Tempore. Council Member Perez concludes her term as the only woman in the history of Laredo to hold the position and serve twice in that capacity, a distinction that underscores her unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to the community.

Council Member Perez previously served as Mayor Pro Tempore from January 18, 2023, to December 2023, and was again selected by her peers in December 2024 to serve for the 2025 term. Her selection, on both ocassions, reflects the confidence placed in her by fellow council members and her exceptional ability to lead with integrity, fairness, and vision.

During her tenure, Council Member Perez supported Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño by assisting in official duties, presiding over City Council meetings in the Mayor’s absence, and representing the City at public events and ceremonies. Her service has been marked by a commitment to improving infrastructure, fostering economic development, strengthening city policy, and advocating for the well-being of all Laredo residents.

Mayor Dr. Victor D. Treviño praised Council Member Perez’s contributions, stating:
