The City of Laredo Neighborhood Challenge is a community wellness initiative that encourages residents to stay active while representing their City Council District. Participants across all eight districts can join their district’s Strava club and log physical activity during the challenge period.
Participation is simple and accessible. Residents can create a free Strava account to track activities such as walking, running, cycling, workouts, or recreational sports. Activity can be measured by distance or time, and can also be synced from fitness trackers or smartwatches.
The challenge is designed to be inclusive of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities, including those using adaptive equipment. An alternative participation form is available for individuals who prefer not to use the app or experience technical difficulties.
Participants are encouraged to explore Laredo’s 100+ parks, trails, and recreational spaces, supporting both physical and mental well-being while connecting with their community. Weekly walking clubs are also available to support engagement.
At the conclusion of the challenge, top-performing neighborhood participants will be invited to a City Council meeting for official recognition, where certificates will be presented to honor their commitment to wellness.
Challenge Dates: Tuesday, April 9, 2026 through Friday, June 5, 2026
