The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) State Family Planning Program FPP is to provide comprehensive family planning services to reduce unintended pregnancies, positively affect future pregnancies, and improve health status of women and men.
What Is Offered
The program offers a wide range of women's health and core family planning services, including:
- Annual family planning and preventive health care visit
- Physician, Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Car
- Pregnancy testing
- Pelvic examinations
- Sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment services
- Breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnosis
- Clinical breast examination
- Screening for cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure
- HIV screening
- Long-acting reversible contraceptives such as IUD’s and Implants
- Other contraceptive methods such as oral contraceptive pills, condoms, diaphragm, vaginal spermicide, and injections except emergency contraception and elective abortion
- Permanent sterilization (if already done patient can become eligible for services)
- Natural family planning counseling
- Recommended immunizations
- Nutritional Counseling
- Limited prenatal benefits
- Limited Imaging Services
- Onsite Dental Services
- Onsite Nurse Family Partnership Services
- Onsite Texas Works Adviso
- Onsite Behavioral Health Services
- Onsite Zika Counseling
- Onsite Presumptive Eligibility
Requirements to Receive Benefits
You may receive these benefits if you:
- Are a male or female.
- Are a resident of Texas.
- Are 64 or younger
- Meet income requirements
Examples of Proof of Income
Proof showing how much money you receive:
- Paycheck stub or copy of a check from the last 60 days.
- Forms that show that someone in your family is in a benefits program.
- Your Texas Benefits Medicaid ID card for one of your children.
- WIC verification of certification (this shows you are in the WIC program).
- WIC voucher.
- WIC / Lone Star Card shopping list.
- A letter from an employer.
- Court papers that show you get child support
- Unemployment benefit award letter or pay stubs.
- Supplemental Security Income award letter or pay stubs
Proof Showing How Much You Pay
- Receipts or income tax returns that show what you pay for daycare costs.
- Court papers canceled checks or wage withholding statements that show how much you pay for child support
